ReplyDeleteHi Dr.Gupta,
ReplyDeleteI am Vikas and I need to travel to Kenya and Nigeria on 24th June,2014. I have taken OPV from your Noida Centre on 3rd June,2014. I have read somewhere that this OPV is required to take at least 4 weeks from the departure date. Is it true? Is your OPV certificate is valid for International Travel.
Regards,
Vikas
Dear Vikas,
DeleteWe thank you for patronizing our services.
Ideally OPV should be taken 4 weeks prior to departure, you are correct in this regard. In most situations, it is likely that you will only be checked (if at all) when you return to India, so you should be good even if you travel out on 24th June. Our certificate is the International Certificate of Vaccination as per IHR guidelines of WHO 2005, and is valid across the world.
Dear Dr. Gupta,
DeleteI am to travel to Kenya on Aug 23rd for max 10 days. How much in advance should one take the yellow fever vaccination? Also, which address is valid for this? The T3 one or T1 and what is the exact timing/ cost please? Thank you in advance for your reply.
You need to take the vaccination 10 days in advance,
DeleteThe T3 address is the more recent one, and likely to be valid.
Please call the center for more details.
Alternatively, you can contact our NOIDA center for hassle free YF vaccination within minutes.
Call 08010777722 for more information,
Regards
My sister is traveling to Nigeria by 12th of July and she needs to take the vaccination of YF as well as OPV. She currently resides in Patna, Bihar where there is no such facility available as of now.
ReplyDeleteShe will be coming to Delhi in couple of days.
what should be the fastest process in this regard.
Many Thanks and Regards
Please call our Delhi clinic by dialing 08010777722 or directly to Dr Rishi Gupta at 09810806594.
DeleteIt is preferable to call a couple of days in advance so as to avoid waiting times.
The vaccinations are done instantaneously, and these are done everyday (including Sunday by prior appointment only).

Hi this is Puneet,
ReplyDeleteTravelling to Brazil on 14th July.
Can I still have YF certificate?
Do I need to carry any document?
You should take the vaccination ideally 10 days before the date of travel.
DeleteBrazil is very strict with this requirement, however if you are ONLY traveling to Sao paolo OR Rio de Janeiro, these are YF free areas and they will not bother you.
If you are planning to go to Iguaco falls, or anywhere in the Amazon region, then you certainly need to have the vaccine 10 days before you visit these regions.
As far as coming back is concerned, if you come back 10 days AFTER taking the vaccine to India, generally the immigration would not bother you.
Call us for more information at 08010777722
When did you take the vaccine?
ReplyDeletePlease call our helpline for more information, or contact me directly at 09872303775,
Regards
Please call us for more information, or let us know your number so that we can contact you,

Dear Sir,
ReplyDeleteI have to travel to Sao Paolo only and in that case is it necessary to get vaccinated for YF? If yes, can I get vaccinated on the day of my travel to Sao Paulo and return in 5 days? I am residing in Indore, MP where the vaccine is available, but international certification is not available. Will the authorised centres in Mumbai or Delhi will issue the certificate based on the details of vaccination at Indore if a certificate is available with me issued by private hospital in Indore? Kindly help me with ur reply.
Regards,
You need to go to an accredited center in one of the major cities as you have mentioned in your post. DO NOT take the vaccine in Indore if the center is not authorized to provide the Yellow Fever Vaccination.
DeleteRegards
Is their any yellow fever issuing authority in madhya pradesh
ReplyDeleteI am not aware of any in MP.
DeleteI would recommend traveling to Mumbai or Delhi so that you can get a proper accredited certification,
Regards
Dear Dr Gupta,
ReplyDeleteI am from Argentina and I have received the vaccine in 2001 but at that moment I just got a local certificate. I am traveling to Thailand and I need to provide an International certificate to get my Visa on arrival. Therefore, I wanted to know:
- If I could get the certificate with you based on my local argentinean proof.
- If I could get the vaccine again, since more than 10 years have passed.
I'll be in Delhi for a couple of days (18th to 20th Oct) and I would like to sort this out before heading to Bangkok on the 21st. I really hope you can help me out.
Thanks so much!
Luisa

I am working in West Africa and I have taken Yellow fever vaccination in Mumbai on Sep 2004 and now I am in Coimbatore, India for a short trip and I want to take Yellow fever Injection again. The nearest centers are Chennai and Cochin. The Telephone numbers given are 'out of order' or 'no response'. I dont have the original passport with me now sent it for visa processing and its over. Can I show xerox copies, or travel itinery or copy of my visa?
ReplyDeleteDear Blog-moderator, the number 09940175654 listed under no. 23 (Kings institute, Guindy, Chennai) is NOT valid. The doctor who owns this number is retired since 2012, please remove the same as we are not able to get the right information and also disturbing the doctor.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Thanks Sid,
DeleteI have done the needful,
Really enjoyed reading a few of your blogs,
hello sir , next month am traveling to west Africa , so i want to know the incubation timing & which ans all document required like passport. because my passport in Gujarat and am in Delhi. it will be OK if i will bring xerox of that . thanking you
ReplyDeleteYes,
DeleteFor vaccination at OUR center, the xerox will be sufficient.
For government centers however, the original passport is required.
You need to take the vaccination AT LEAST 10 days before the date of travel, and it is valid for 1 year.

Dear Dr. Gupta,
ReplyDeleteI need to travel to Kenya urgently for crucial work on the 13th of February for a period of 11 days. Unfortunately, due to a delayed reissue of my passport, I am only able to take my yellow fever vaccine by the 4th Feb which is less than ten days before my travel date (I probably miss this deadline by just a day). Am I likely to be in trouble at Indian immigration or Kenyan immigration? Is the YF certificate checked at both ends? Please advise if I should not proceed on this trip due to the delay arising on my YF certificate.
On a related note: I am located in Coimbatore; please can you let me know which PHO centre I should approach for the best chance of getting the vaccine given the loss in time which I am already facing. Thank you very much for your time and advice!
Take the vaccination as soon as possible, generally speaking it should not be an issue, though you would be better off traveling after 10 days to be 100 % sure.
DeleteThe list of center is given above, Chennai, Bangaolre or Hyderabad would be ideal
We have centers in mumbai / delhi if you are interested as well,
Regards
Dear Dr. Gupta,
ReplyDeleteI need to travel to Angola, Africa, in April 2015. What vaccination should i take before my travelling to Angola, Africa.

Dear Sir,
ReplyDeleteI want to travel to Nigeria in the month of May'15. I got Yellow fever vaccination 2 years back , now I want get OPV in the month of Feb'15, will it be valid till the end of May'15 ? Is it necessary to get OPV only one month prior to travel.
No,
ReplyDeleteYou have to get OPV 4 weeks before the date of departure, as a minimum. It remains valid for 1 year.
So if you take the vaccination in feb 2015, it remains valid till feb 2016.
Regards

Hello, Just wanted to confirm how safe it would be to get yellow fever vaccination from New Delhi Municipal Corporation: http://111.93.49.28:18080/mcd_healthweb/yellowfeverusertermsConditions.action?loginType=CITIZEN
ReplyDeleteAlso, is it a single shot vaccination valid for 10 years ?
Thanks for your guidance.
It is safe, though the vaccine is a generic Russian OR Chinese vaccine that is available in a multidose vial and used to inject 10 people at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThe shot is valid for 10 years,

I am travelling to South Africa, do I need to get yellow fever vaccination?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on your transit station. If you transit via Ethiopia / Kenya, then it is mandatory to have the Yellow Fever Vaccination.
DeleteHowever, if you are traveling directly to South Africa, or transiting via a middle east country, then Yellow Fever vaccination is not needed. South Africa itself does not have Yellow Fever, BUT they are very strict in enforcing Yellow Fever vaccination requirements even if you are just transiting from any African country where Yellow Fever Vaccination is mandatory.
I stay in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Which is the closet place to get the vaccination and get yellow fever card. Please advice......
ReplyDeleteThe centers at Lucknow OR Kolkata would be the closest for you.
DeleteWe have a center in Delhi NCR (NOIDA) that would be useful also.
Warm regards

Thanks.
Hi,
DeleteI do not believe that Apollo Hospital would have the appropriate certification, and a certificate issued on their own letter head would not be valid for immigration.
We have a separate blog for Bangalore vaccination and you can view it here

Dear Ajay,
ReplyDeleteFor 4 countries, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia & Somalia in Africa, Polio drops are considered compulsory as per Govt of India.
You can try the NDMC Center in Delhi that has online registration.
Noida Center is a private center that is probably the BEST choice for elderly people since the total time taken is less than 10 minutes !
Thanks for valuable information..

Once you have done this and sent the details of your passport to us, our trained medical assistant will visit your residence and administer the vaccination.
You can read more about it here.

We could send someone over to Daman, but it would be fairly expensive. (approximately Rs. 20,000/- in addition to vaccination charges of Rs 3200/- per person)

ReplyDeleteI'm travelling to Kenya on 25th and have take my yellow fever vaccine on 10th and somehow missed and was neither informed nor aware that OVP (polio) vaccine...now I'll be taking it tomorrow , I.e, 10 days before departure from India and 19 days before arrival back to India..could you please advise whether this would be a problem with Indian immigration while returning or with the Kenyan immigration..kindly advise at the earliest..
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, Oral Polio Drops are NOT a problem, since there is no mandate to quarantine you if you have not taken the OPV. All they can do, is to give the OPV dose again to you.
DeleteRegards
I got my yellow fever shot today at the Airport Health Organisation Office at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
ReplyDeleteI reached there around 8:00 AM, and there was an informal list circulating managed by the people themselves, there were already 40 names on it (the list seems to have started at 2 AM). It was a long wait in the sun outside the gates and by the time we were allowed to enter around 9:45 AM there were about 60 odd people in the line (70 allowed per day max). Inside the office there is a decent AC waiting hall with comfortable chairs and a small canteen where one can have some break fast (Bhaji pao, poha, tea & water).
1. The forms were distributed and the person there was pretty helpful in guiding the people.
2. The forms were submitted and payment (Rs. 300.00) made.
3. Around 11:30 AM the injections started with the first batch of 30 people being called.
4. After another 20 minutes or so the rest of us were called and taken to the 1st floor where there is another waiting hall.
5. First to be injected were ladies and children.
6. Next the men, the process took less than 15 sec. (the doctor is so efficient that I did not even realize that I had been injected).
7. After waiting for another 10 minutes the certificates were distributed which had to be filled with Name, PP number, date etc.
8. Finally the certificates were collected back and signed.
9. The whole process took about 3 hours (from entering the premises)
Do's:
1. Carry your passport (original), copies are not accepted
2. Carry your confirmed ticket
3. You need to reach early to make it within the 70 which are admitted in a day.
4. The injection is in batches of 10 only. In case there are 69 people then only 60 will be injected. The rest 9 will have to come back some other day.
Thanks for the great tips, I am sure this will help the travelers in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
ReplyDeleteI am posting this as a separate blog as well
Regards
Dr Gupta
Hi Dr. I am planning to travel to Kenya on 8th July and have not taken the Yellow vaccination yet. If i take a vaccination tomorrow i.e. 7 days before my planned travel, do you think I may face any issues at the India or the Kenya immigration? I have heard that traveling outside India might not be issue as they are more watchful when you come back to India but how about the Kenya immigration? Do you think they can cause any trouble?

ReplyDeleteDear Latha,
ReplyDeleteThanks for contacting us.
I do get similar questions on a routine basis :)
Here is what I tell everyone,
It does NOT matter what I think or believe.
You may be 1 out of 100 people who 'might' get stuck at the Kenyan immigration. Then what is the plan B??
They could deport you, or more likely charge a hefty unofficial fine for not having the certificate.
PLUS you are also not protected against a serious disease.
So ... try to defer your travel dates if possible.
Take the vaccination as soon as possible, in any case.
Hope this helps.
Warm regards

Hello Dr Gupta,
ReplyDeleteI will be in India for couple weeks and then go to Africa so would like to get YF vaccination. What documents are needed and how much does it cost? Do you need confirmed ticket? Can I make appointment over email once I have booked my Delhi hotel? Thanks.
Mahendra
Hi,
DeleteYou can get the vaccination done at our NOIDA clinic.
It costs Rs 3200/-
You only need a copy of your passport for the same.
You can call our NOIDA center at 9810806594 when you reach Delhi.

I posted a question but have one more question: top of this page states " We are NOT authorized by Govt of India for Yellow Fever Vaccination." - what does that mean? Is your YF cert not valid or acceptable to Indian or Foreign authorities? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe certificate is WHO approved and acceptable in around 200 countries around the world.
DeleteIndia immigration can detain you when you come back directly after visiting a Yellow Fever endemic country.
This is extremely unlikely however, and we have rarely faced this situation in our more than 10 years of providing Yellow Fever vaccination certification.
Please read our FAQs for more information, see the tab at the top.
Feel free to call us for more information,
Thank you very much Sir for the prompt response. I am a US passport holder - will India Immigration still try to detain? In US, all Vaccinations are done privately so would India Immigration have problems with that too? I will email you when I get to India because I may not have an India phone. Thanks.
DeleteDear Dr Gupta, One more question: can I also get Smallpox and Cholera vaccine from you? If not, do you know of any other clinic that does that? Some countries in Africa ask for these two as well in addition to YF. Is it OK to take all three together? Thanks!
DeleteYou can certainly get Cholera Vaccine from us.
DeleteNO SMALL POX vaccine is available through out the WORLD. You are probably confusing it with some other vaccine.
We provide ALL TRAVEL VACCINATIONS, so please feel free to come over for your vaccinations.
Warm regards
OK - we will get 2 done - 2 out of 3 ain't bad!
ReplyDeleteI read following on the US State Dept website (and it's supposed to be always up-to-date) (https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/equatorial-guinea.html, entry/exit Reqs):
"In addition, a certification of vaccination for small pox, yellow fever, and cholera are required to enter Equatorial Guinea. "
it also says " Small pox and cholera vaccinations are generally not available in the United States. "
DeleteSmall Pox vaccination is NOT available anywhere anymore, except for certain stockpiles for military use, in case of a terror attack.
2 out of 3 is not bad, I agree :)

ReplyDeleteDear Sarvjeet,
ReplyDeleteThanks for contacting us,
In case your flight is transiting directly from Mauritius to Durban, Yellow fever vaccination is not necessary.
However, if you are also touching any other African country like Kenya/ Ethiopia, then it is mandatory.
In case of any doubts, talk to your agent, or take the vaccination, since it is valid for 10 years.
We can even do the vaccination at your home - Charges Rs 15 per km Ex Chandigarh PLUS vaccination costs.
Read more at the Vaccination at home tab.

DeleteHi Dr.
ReplyDeletePlease suggest me, I need to take YF vaccination, can i take it from Balrampur Hospital, Lucknow (U.P.). How much cost it will come?
Balrampur hospital is generally short of YF vaccines.

Outside vaccination cost is generally around 1900/-
Govt charges are around 300/- only.

What doccuments should be required for yf vaccination if i had not got tickets in hand is the passport will be ok or not
ReplyDeleteFor private centers like ours, we are happy with a soft copy of the passport or a photocopy as well.
DeleteHowever, most govt centers would need the ORIGINAL passport and some may even want a VISA & even the ticket along with it.
Please ask the center where you are taking the vaccination,

DeleteThere is a center in Balrampur Hospital Lucknow, OR you can visit our Clinic in Noida/ Chandigarh.
